Hey friends,

It's Monday and I'm late on this newsletter so let's get tactical with examples you can use today.

Usually my newsletter has a core topic + behind the scenes of my business, but today all the examples I'm using are from my own business, so I'm merging these sections to give you a Monday Morning speed read.

The Four Goals of Marketing

Marketing is not just for companies.

It's for individuals, ideas, resources, opportunities––anything you want to sell (literally or metaphorically). It's part of everyday life which is why it's important for people to understand the basics of it. In general, marketing has four common goals: exposure, trust, buy, gather.

Let's breakdown how you can practice each:

1. Increase Exposure

  • The Goal: To develop familiarity.
  • How to do it: Show up.
  • Strategy: Join a community. This could be on or offline.
  • Pro tip: Ask for a warm introduction or partner up when possible.

2. Build trust

  • The Goal: To create connection.
  • How to do it: Practice consistency.
  • Strategy: Less production, more documentation.
  • Pro tip: Transparency is the name of the game.

3. Sign-up/Buy

  • The Goal: To convince them you can help.
  • How to do it: Actually help (GTFO).
  • Strategy: Give them useful tools/resources.
  • Pro tip: Social proof helps significantly.

4. Gather Feedback

  • The Goal: To gather useful input.
  • How to do it: Give an incentive or acknowledgement.
  • Strategy: Utilize giftcards or give updates on how you're using their feedback.
  • Pro tip: The latter builds more loyalty (but who doesn't like a giftcard?).

I enjoy teaching these little bits of business. Do you like learning about them? Tell me; I'm making a bunch of mini sessions and want to make sure they help you. Plus those who give their input will get a free session of their choice.

⚡️ Quickhits

  • A genius way to teach (and learn) French: French with Maud is a Substack newsletter about the instructor's life with a French write-up, English write-up, and audio embed. So simple and smart, I love it.
  • Make-a-copy: a really cool one-page view of 2024 that will help you see what you really can (and can't) do in a year.
  • Take it to heart: A powerful reminder on working smarter.

That's it from me today. 💃🏻

Have a great week!

Love this ❤️❤️❤️
Dig it 👍👍
Do better 😕
